The best way is to keep the cheese well wrapped and seals in its original package, in the coldest part of the fridge – the lowest shelf in the fridge. The cheese should not be exposed in the fridge, since other products in the fridge may contaminate it.
Cheese sold in water/salts should be stored in the original water in which it was bought. This water is chemically balanced, and its objective is to keep cheese from going bad. Switching the water may ruin the product.
Another way to store cheese is by freezing it.
